The Story Behind SPF Depot: From a Garage to a Global Supplier

SPF Depot was founded in 2005 by Patrick Gililland, a fluid power engineer with a background in hydraulic systems and industrial equipment. Before launching the company, Pat worked extensively with Parker Hannifin products, covering southern Louisiana and specializing in extending the life of hydraulic components through remanufacturing and custom tooling—including projects supporting General Motors assembly lines.

Built on Grit and Determination

In the early days, challenges were constant. After Hurricane Katrina devastated southern Louisiana, hotel availability disappeared. While servicing a job at the Weyerhaeuser paper mill, Pat slept in his truck just to complete the work.

That level of commitment would become the foundation of SPF Depot.

Discovering the Future of Foam

Everything changed after watching an episode of Holmes on Homes featuring spray foam insulation. Pat immediately recognized the potential of the industry and invested in a spray foam rig to begin applying foam himself.

It didn’t take long to spot a problem.

OEM parts weren’t holding up under real-world conditions.

So he did what engineers do—he fixed it.

Pat hard-coated a spray foam chamber, and the results were dramatic: three months of use with zero scoring, far outperforming standard OEM components.

Typical Problems SPF Depot Focused on:

  • Premature wear in spray foam chambers. Chamber score/scratch within a day.
  • Scoring inside mix chambers. Internals wear out from cleaning with drill bits
  • High OEM replacement costs. OEM's made more money on a job than I did.
  • Downtime waiting on parts. Distributors don't stock many parts. They drop ship and at times I had 2 next day orders for some springs from 2 different locations.
  • From Garage Experiments to Market Demand

Starting in his garage, Pat produced just 12 test chambers. Then came side seals. Demand grew quickly.

In its first year, SPF Depot generated $180,000 in revenue—all from a garage operation.

    From there, growth accelerated:

    • Garage → 1,200 sq. ft. warehouse
    • 1,200 sq. ft. → Custom-built 10,000 sq. ft. facility
    • Revenue scaling to over $4 million annually

Today, SPF Depot operates as a debt-free company, with:

    • No mortgage on building or land
    • Over $1 million in inventory on hand
    • A commitment to same-day shipping

    A Different Kind of Supplier

SPF Depot is not a traditional distributor. While carrying major OEM brands like:

    • Graco Spray Foam Gun and Reactor Parts Graco Parts
    • PMC Polymac AP2, Ap, PX7 and Proportioner Parts PMC Parts
    • Gusmer OEM parts from a German Company Purchased by SPF Depot Gusmer & GlasCraft Parts
    • IPM Pumps Parts and Pumps IPM OEM Parts
    • GamaPur OEM Parts Purchased from PMC when GAMA Pulled out of the US Market GAMA Parts
    • SPF Depot Brand Aftermarket Parts for Gama, Graco, PMC, Gusmer, Binks and Boss Spray Foam Guns SPF Depot Store

…the company also manufactures its own high-performance replacement parts—many produced by the same manufacturers used by OEMs.

In fact, SPF Depot stocks such a large inventory that even OEMs occasionally source parts from them.

    Built for the Contractor

SPF Depot was founded on one simple principle:

“If the customer wanted the part in two weeks, they would have ordered it in two weeks.”

    That philosophy drives everything:

    • Massive in-stock inventory
    • Direct-to-consumer pricing (no middleman)
    • Faster shipping and lower costs

When OEM prices climb, SPF Depot develops alternatives—giving contractors a smarter option without sacrificing performance.

    From 2 Products to 1,800+

What began with just two products in 2005 has grown into a catalog of over 1,800 parts, supporting more than 14 spray foam guns in the global market.

SPF Depot also supplies parts to major industry players and continues to expand based on real-world contractor needs.

    SPF Depot Brand Spray Guns

SPF Depot has expanded beyond parts into proprietary equipment, including:

    • SPF-AP1
    • SPF-AP2
    • SPF-APC
    • Coming Soon: SPF-APX

    Safety & Support Products

In addition to equipment and parts, SPF Depot stocks trusted safety brands such as:

    • 3M safety equipment
    • Allegro safety products
    • Honeywell North safety gear

    The Bottom Line

SPF Depot isn’t just another parts supplier—it’s a company built by someone who worked in the field, solved real problems, and refused to accept equipment that didn’t perform.

From sleeping in a truck after Katrina…
    to building a debt-free, multi-million-dollar operation…

SPF Depot proves that innovation, grit, and customer focus still win.
